The LCAC is a collective of scholars, artists, and activists promoting “performance literacy” in politics

We Believe

Politics today is a performing art. Political journalists are untrained theater critics. No politician is wise to deny it—or to suppose that they themselves are not performing. And no citizen can get by without basic performance literacy.

In order to promote this literacy, the LCAC features writing on politics by experts in performance. Our goal is not to expose politics as an illusion, a mere performance. Instead, we start from the premise that all political ideas are performed—that even the truth must be enacted for all to see.
